Melissa McCreary, owner and teacher, began teaching dance in January 2000 at the Lone Star Ballet satellite academy in Borger, TX. She also taught for Lone Star Ballet in Canyon, Amarillo, and Hereford before finishing her dance degree at WTAMU. She performed professionally in TEXAS Musical Drama for four seasons, and danced in many Lone Star Ballet productions. After finishing college, Melissa lived overseas in Cairo, Egypt, where she was able to take classes with the Cairo Opera Ballet. She traveled to many countries including Jordan, Cyprus, India, Spain and Morocco before returning home to Texas. She met Brett McCreary when she came back to WTAMU to pursue an English degree. They married in 2005 and spent their early married years in Bandung, Indonesia, where they worked for various non-profit NGO companies before coming back to Perryton. Melissa has spent the last 15 years in love with owning her own studio and passionate about arts education in rural areas. The McCrearys have two sons: Ben is a senior at Perryton High School, and Josiah is an 8th grader at Perryton Christian Academy. Brett is a cancer survivor who bravely battles his subsequent dysautonomia, and enjoys helping his wife pick out music for class and recital. Melissa also teaches high school English at Perryton High School; so if you call in the middle of the day, chances are she's attempting to get 16 year old students to understand commas.
Julia Alfaro begins her teaching career this year at Perryton Dance Academy. She began dancing as a young child, and has been a valued teaching assistant for the last two years. Julia is the daughter of Ruben and Kaylee Alfaro, and big sister to Eli and Trey. Julia competed for 10 years, winning many awards and top honors for her solos at Dance Masters of America, Talent on Parade, and Celebration Talent competitions. During high school, Julia was a crucial member of the PHS FCCLA chapter, which is well-known for their educational programs and volunteer work. She graduated from Perryton High School in 2025, and is attending Frank Phillips College. Julia plans to pursue Early Childhood Education and become a teacher. As a teacher for our youngest dancers and a coach to our competitive dancers, she is a great addition to our teaching team.
